1. diana krall - I get along without you very well
Diana Krall has taken the world by storm with the combination of her sultry voice and her piano playing is 2nd to none. Her rendition of this old favorite pulls at my heartstrings.

Earth, Wind, and Fire is the meaning of rhythm to me. This song has such groovy syncopation coming in just before or after where anticipated. The chorus and verse are so different and compliment each other perfectly. 3. Dave Matthews Band - The Dreaming Tree
No play list of mine would be complete without Dave. I chose this track because of the effortless 7/8 time. The lyrical content is a ride through a dream. 4. Outkast - Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik
Outkast in my mind is one of the great innovators in music today. This is a track that shows where they first began musically and they have retained some of these elements even today. A total jam that will make you want to get up and dance. 5. Incubus - Follow (1st movement of the odyssey)
Incubus has inspired me musically in many ways. I love their jazz style rhythms and progressions that come through in a heavier sound. This is a killer instrumental that shows a great use of 9/8 and 9/11 in the main theme and features a more mellow but meaty B section. 6. Jeff Buckley - Opened Once
No play list anywhere could forgive the absence of Jeff Buckley. This is a song that was released after his passing. The voice, the guitar tone, the lyrics, what more can I say… 7. John Mayer - Stop this Train
John Mayer is the next Great of my generation and I know his music will be inspiring Millions for years to come. This song exemplifies his innovative guitar styles, chord shapes, and is the only song to my knowledge that starts a chorus with a Minor/major chord. The story here is one that we can all relate to -- John Mayer ladies and gentlemen. 8. Joni Mitchell - Both Sides Now
This track by Joni Mitchell could be one of the greatest songs ever written. I couldn’t attempt to describe it. It gives me goose bumps every time I hear it. 9. Gino Vannelli - Black and Blue
In my opinion, Gino Vannelli is one of the most overlooked geniuses of our time. This track was written in the 70’s and shows the classical and jazz style that puts Gino at the top of my list of Great Musicians. The lyrics Black and Blue are not what you think either…

10. Pat Metheny - Unity Village
Pat Metheny…..ahhh Pat Metheny. This iconoclastic bands’ music through use of melody, harmony, and rhythm, brings me to a higher state of mind. They should compose a symphonic piece to show us all how they could master that too. This track takes melody and harmony to another level. Key change anyone?
11. Stevie Wonder - Superwoman
Stevie Wonder has been labeled the greatest songwriter ever. This track is like two amazing songs in one. The transition between the two is nothing short of phenomenal.
Take 6 is a relatively obscure A Capella group that got started in the 80’s. This track is guaranteed to move you if listened to very loud with your eyes closed. These guys implement harmony in a way that I have never seen and have not been matched in music today.
